Ruby R. Downey

Ruby R. Downey, 95, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Parkersburg Care Center. She was born May 12, 1921, in Brohard, W.Va., a daughter of the late Homer and Lottie Mills Maze. Ruby loved cooking, gardening, making apple butter, crocheting and loved all animals. Most of all she loved her country life on the farm. She is survived by her son, Larry S. Downey of Parkersburg; her grandson, Mark A. Downey (Jennifer); two great-grandchildren, Haylea T. Downey and Katheryn A. Downey and two nieces, Mary Jo Kelley of Parkersburg and Phyllis Cheuvront (Kenneth) of Vienna. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wellrose H.”Tex” Downey and her sister, Opal Davis. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, south Parkersburg. Interment will follow at the Hartley Cemetery, Wirt County, W.Va. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
