Roy Lee Hawkinberry 94, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Monday, at his home with family at his side. Roy was born July 21, 1922 in Fairmont, WV, a son of the James Fred Hawkinberry and Anna Lee Yoho. Roy was a machinist at ACME Fishing & Tool Co. for 38 years. He also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII for four years. Roy was a devoted husband and father. He loved playing his mandolin and loved camping with Evelyn and Rodger. He is survived by his grandson, Ryan Hawkinberry (Sherry) of FL; great grandson, Raistlin Hawkinberry (Lily) of FL; great granddaughter, Rosemary; and step grandchildren, Robert (Neva), Courtney (Jon), and Hailey (Jay), all of FL and whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by a dear niece, Gloria Jean Bittner (Ron) of East Palestine, Ohio; His daughter-in-law, Mary Studebaker (Mike) of Eaton, Ohio; and his cousin and caretaker, Ruth Siber. Roy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Evelyn McFee Hawkinberry; his son, Rodger Lee Hawkinberry, his parents; his brother, Charles Ray Hawkinberry; his three sisters, Ruby Hughes, Garnet Ethel Murphy and Nellie Virginia Campbell. We wish to extend our thanks to our dear friends who always took time to stop by and cheer Roy up, Ken and Carolyn Hoelsher; Bobbi Lemon and Nikki Secoy for all their loving help; all the lovely nurses from Amedysis, Shelley, Sara and Bonnie; his war buddy, Orville whom he loved swapping war stories with; and his special girlfriends, Betty and Ethel. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the K of P Cemetery in Elizabeth, WV. with Pastor Randall Fusion officiating.
