Ronald Ray Starcher, 76 of Arlington, Virginia died August 13, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Washington D.C.He was born on February 27, 1939 in Spencer, W.Va. son of Earline and Susie Starcher. Affectionately known as Pop, Dad, Papa & “Sarge” to many.Ron was a U.S. Army veteran, having served 21 years. He was stationed in many locations throughout his career including Korea, Japan, three tours in Vietnam, Germany and all across the United States including Hawaii and Alaska. He retired from the Army and returned to WV to reside in Parkersburg and Vienna. He worked for Dils Ford and retired from Broughton Foods, afterwards moving to Falling Waters, W.Va. Ron was a member of K of C of Hagerstown, Maryland. He and Anita recently moved to Arlington, VA where he was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He loved to spend time with family and friends. Ron liked hunting, camping, swimming, traveling and listening to his books on tape. But most of all, he loved to call his family and friends and talk for hours on the phone telling stories of all his antics, life experiences & giving fatherly advice on a variety of topics. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy of almost 32 years; and son, Donnie McCarthy of Arlington, VA.He is survived by his wife of nearly 24 years, Anita Starcher; children, Terry Starcher (Tina) of Mineral Wells, WV; Angie Dunn (Don) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; Ronnie Starcher (Vicki) of Evans, GA; Tammy Reese (Mike) of Vienna, W.Va.; Scott Starcher of Parkersburg; Denis McCarthy (Lera) of Arlington, VA; daughter-in- law, EB Nesbitt of Arlington, VA; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Reta Carol Wycoff of Columbus, OH; brothers, Larry Starcher (Becky) of Morgantown, W.Va.; Andrew Jackson “Sonny” Starcher (Lois) of Canal Winchester, OH; sisters, Lois Cashdollar of Cross Lanes, W.Va.; NormaHarper (Richard); brother, Warren Starcher (Jackie) both of Spencer, W.Va. and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015, visitation 10:00 a.m. to 12:00, service starts at noon at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va.
