Roger D. Griffin 67, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at his residence. He was born October 14, 1948 in PeeWee, W.Va. in Wirt County, a son of Albert Griffin of Princeton, W.Va. and the late Eula Sheppard Griffin. Roger graduated from Wirt County High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army, and retired from Chapman Printing after 33 years of service. Roger was on the chain crew for Parkersburg South High School football for 18 years, and was a member of the South Football Hall of Fame. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and farming. In addition to his father he is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kathryn “Kathy” Kirby Griffin; one daughter, Tina Marie Allen (David) of Rock Cave, W.Va; two grandchildren, Megyn and Brycen Allen; two sisters, Marjorie Conner (Roy) of Mineral Wells, W.Va. and Barbara Jane Spencer (James) of Parkersburg; two nephews and several nieces. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, T.A. and Addie Flesher Sheppard and his paternal grandparents, Major and Hattie Wildman Griffin. Funeral services for Roger will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, with Pastor Bill Stout officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wirt County. American Legion Post #15 will open the service Wednesday with full Military Honors. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association. The family wishes to thank Amedisys Hospice for their love and care of Roger.
