Roberta Lynn “Berta” Fordyce, age 45 of Mineral Wells, W.Va., passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.. She was born April 6, 1970 in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of Cecil D. Madson and the late Roberta Staats Madison. Berta was a 1989 graduate of Parkersburg South High School, had previously worked at the Sunbridge Nursing Facility and attended Landmark Baptist Church. She loved her children and family, cookouts, family gatherings, watching movies, and her dog Dekes. Berta is survived by her husband and best friend of 27 years, James L. Fordyce; her father, Cecil D. Madison (Sandy) of Parkersburg; three sons, Robert “Little Robert” Fordyce (Destiny) of Mineral Wells, Steven Fordyce (Brandy) of Mineral Wells, and James Fordyce II (Brianna) of Washington, W.Va.; two sisters, Barbara Kincaid (Pat) and Tonya Boyd (Donnie) both of Parkersburg; two brothers, Cecil Madison Jr. and Darrell Madison both of Parkersburg; seven grandchildren, Jaylen, Isaac, Ayden, Madalyn, Braysen, Caralina and Brentley; special friends, Tammy Pierce of Belleville, W.Va. and Connie Barker of North Carolina; and dear family friend, John Cain of Parkersburg. In addition to her mother, Berta was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents who helped make her the woman she became, Cecil and Wanda Madison; and her maternal grandparents, Walter and Aggie Staats. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Mark Watkins officiating.
