Robert Gerald Pifer

Robert Gerald Pifer, 84, of Mineral Wells, WV passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Ellison Care. He was born August 29, 1942 in Keyser, WV, a son of the late Graham and Margaret Murphy Pifer.

Robert had prestigious educational background, beginning with earning his associate degree at Potomac College. Robert graduated from WVU Dental School in 1968 and joined the Public Health Service, Indian Division. He then went on to earn his Masters at UAB in Dental Radiology. He practiced general dentistry for several years. He was a professor at WVU Dental School for 30 years and served as chair of oral diagnostic department for 10 years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, building car models, hiking, restoring antique cars, and going to car shows. 

Left to carry his memory, include his loving wife, Barbara Pifer of 59 years, whom he married on New Years Eve, 1966; his daughter, Laura Rider (Steve); grandchildren, Keely and Hunter Rider; sister-in-law, Kim Pifer; and numerous other loved ones.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Clint Pifer; and his brother, Randolph Pifer.

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at a later date.
