Robert “Bob” Gene Freshwater, 78, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away on June 6, 2015 at Camden Clark Medical Center.He was born in Parkersburg on February 25, 1937, son of the late Richard and Virginia (Nern) Freshwater. Bob graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1955 and began his employment at Fenton Art Glass Company in Williamstown, W.Va. retiring in 1999 after 42 years of service.Bob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served on various committees and taught adult Sunday School classes. He was a member of the Murphytown Baptist Church for many years. He was a charter member of the former Murphytown Lions Club serving on various committees.Bob was an outdoor person who loved deer and turkey hunting, always had a large vegetable garden and numerous flower gardens. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and hunting with his two friends, Russ and John Hunt.He is survived by his wife, Rosellen (Boyles) Freshwater, whom he married on July 1, 1972, at the First Lutheran Church in Parkersburg by Pastor Manfred Bauman. Also survived by his stepson, Jimmie Brown and wife, Coral of Guyton, Georgia; former daughter-in-law, Loris Brown of Pooler, Georgia; two grandsons, Jason Brown, Amy his wife and two sons, Tyler and Jamie of Rincon, Georgia, and Joshua Brown of Pooler, Georgia; several cousins, special cousins, Jenny and Sam Tyre; two aunts, Toni Nern and Mildred Freshwater; several nieces and nephews; step sisters; and one sister and one brother.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Pauline Boyles, his sister-in-law, Jane Boyles, and his step-mother, Gretta Freshwater, two uncles, Don Nern and Gordon (Mary his wife) Nern.The family would like to thank the following for their care and help in taking care of Bob during his illness; Dr. Michael Mauzy, Dr. Barry Louden, staff at Health South, staff at Amedysis Home Therapy, Pastor Roger Vernick, church friends, family friend, David Griffin, wonderful neighbors and we thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during his illness.Funeral services for Bob will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday,June 10, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church 3500 Broad St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Roger Vernick officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery, Parkersburg. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg.The family requests memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3500 Broad St., Parkersburg, WV 26101.
