Robert Eugene Wilson

January 28, 1960 — June 1, 2015

Robert E. “Bob” Wilson passed away peacefully on June 1, 2015 surrounded by his loving wife, mother and daughters.Bob was born on January 28, 1960, in Parkersburg, W.Va. a son of the late Roy E. and Vera I. Ritchie Wilson. He was a 1978 graduate of Parkersburg South High School where he was a drum major for the great South Patriot Band and also class Secretary. He married the love of his life, Amy on May 28, 1988, who survives him along with his cherished beautiful daughters, Abbey Lea Wilson, Morgan Ashley Wilson and Megan Nycol Wilson and light of his life, his precious granddaughter, Peyton.Bob was very active in the community and was a volunteer to many organizations. All that knew Bob love him, such a kind, compassionate, coach and mentor. As his children were young, he helped coach Little League Baseball and Basketball as well as travel teams for softball. It was during this time that he developed the love for officiating basketball. He was such a well respected individual with a calm manner that was so admired. He, in later years, continued his officiating career to high school and college league games and was so proud to be chosen to officiate in Sectional and Regional events for the State of West Virginia High School basketball tournament. On February 15, 2015 he was presented the “Chip Meadows Memorial Award” in honor of dedication, loyalty and integrity awarded each year to an official by their peers. He was so very honored and humbled to receive this. It was such a happy surprise to him.In his employment he was one of the very dedicated and honorable people that will be sorely missed. In 1977, Bob began working for Kroger and at the time of his disability in October 2014 he was Head Dairy Manager. He also handled his work, fellow co-workers and patrons of Kroger with high respect. Everyone knew that Bob would take good care of their requests and do so with a smile. His plans for early retirement sent him down the path to being a part-time school bus driver for Wood County Schools. He had just started in August of 2014 and by October had all his required runs recorded for the entire year. He worked around his busy schedule as he found enjoyment in the youngsters and driving a school bus. His talents for driving larger rigs developed in 1989 when he drove a race car rig for his brother-in-law and father-in-law. He thoroughly enjoyed this time. He was a pit crew chief that was able to expand his knowledge mechanically as he was always the “mechanic” on his own vehicle as well as all the family vehicles. His talents were endless, his skill was abundant but when you met Bob you were never addressed in any way that would make you feel inferior in any way. He accepted everyone without judgment and was such a beautiful man.Other than his mother, Vera I. Wilson, he is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Amy L. Wilson of Parkersburg; daughters, 2nd Lieutenant Abbey L. Wilson, Enterprise, Ala, Morgan A. Wilson and Megan N. Wilson, both of Parkersburg; granddaughter, Peyton Gossett of Parkersburg; brothers, Steve of The Woodlands, Tex., Bill of Belpre, Ohio; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his very dear friends from all his walks of life. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the honest, incredible care given to Bob by Dr. Vasan and his staff. Also a special thank you to the Hospice staff which were only called upon for his final three days.Bob and his family appreciated the benefit held in his honor on Nov. 1, 2014. A special thank you to his brother Bill, his co-workers and friends for their tireless efforts to make it a success. It meant the world to him as well as the entire family.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg with Rev.
