Mr. Robert D. “Hodge” Wilcox, age 66, of Elizabeth, passed away Saturday morning, September 5, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born July 23, 1960, in Wood County, a son of the late Robert and Margaret Wilcox.
He was an avid outdoorsman, as well as a craftsman, and enjoyed spending time with and sharing those interests with his nieces and nephews.
Hodge took an active role in his family’s lives. He specifically enjoyed sharing his knowledge about outdoorsmanship, most especially fishing with his nieces and nephews.
Hodge had a deep love for Muskie fishing in particular. If you spent any amount of time with him at his home next to the Little Kanawha River, you were sure to be blessed with many tales of his battles with those fish.
While Hodge may have given each of those who knew him the gift of his knowledge and stories, another lesson we learned from him will be carried with us forever. Hodge was a fairly quiet and contemplative man, but even in his silences, he made sure you felt seen and loved. His ability to sit quietly with you on the porch with nothing but the sounds of rocking chairs creaking, nature, or next to the water while still exuding a warmth love will be ingrained in those who knew him forever.
Hodge is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Angela Wilcox; three siblings, Ann Wilcox, Doug Wilcox, and John Wilcox; and ten nieces and nephews, with special niece Kamryn Vankirk; as well as many friends who will miss him dearly.
There will be no services at this time. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St. is honored to serve the Wilcox family.
