Robert L. Currey, 85, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away after a long illness on January 18, 2017 at his residence. He was born September 7, 1931, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Bradley and Elsie Currey. Robert was a 1949 graduate from Parkersburg High School. He served four years in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 and retired from Challenger as a tool and dye maker. He is survived by his wife, Loreda Currey; one step-daughter, Debbie Greene (Randy) of Watertown, Ohio; one step-son, Mark Freshour (Renee) of Little Hocking, Ohio; two sisters, Phyllis Flinn (John) and Barbara Carr (Dale) both of Parkersburg; three brothers, Paul Currey (Ruth), Wayne Currey (Joann) and Edwin Currey (Beth) all of Parkersburg; three step-grandchildren, Lauren Rowan (Jeremy), Aaron Greene, Corie Lenox (Zachery); three great-grandchildren, Blake and Brooklyn Rowan and Audri Lenox and special friends Mike and Mary Harris and Joan Auch.He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Susan Currey. Private family services will be held at the convenience of the family.
