Robert D. Cross

Robert D. Cross Jr., 56, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on March 1, 2011 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.He was born on August 27, 1954, a son of the late Robert D. Cross Sr. and Ruth Cross Baughan of Parkersburg.Robert was a graduate of Warren High School and worked as a security guard for Benson Fabrication Co. until 2002.He attended Harmony Baptist Church.He is survived by his mother and step-father, Ruth Cross and Gary “Bondo” Baughan of Parkersburg,; loving wife of nine years, Carrie L. Price Cross; two daughters, Megan Cross of Ohio and Bobby Jean Cross of Parkersburg; one son, Robert D. Cross II of Parkersburg; one step-daughter, Joanna Dawson of Parkersburg; one step-son, William Dawson of Parkersburg; one sister JoDene (Roger) Hodges of Parkersburg; three brothers, Craig (Peggy) Cross of North Carolina, Roger (Nan) Cross of Ohio and Jamie Cross of Parkersburg; four grandchildren, Sarrah Dawson, Sidney, Allison and Mason, all of Parkersburg; one adopted granddaughter, Shaylynn Dawson; his very close friends, Evelyn Duckworth, Woody Deem,Bobby Duckworth , Ed Lockhart, Jay Lenox, Wayne Giffen, and Brent Windland; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Jenny Dawson; one brother-in-law, Joseph Price; and his grandparents.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Don Yeager officiating.Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, and on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
