Robert Paul Cornell

Robert P. Cornell, 82, of Parkersburg, went to be home with the Lord on March 2, 2024 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 27, 1941, a son of the late Oliver and Eunice Rexroad Cornell.

He was an ordained minister through the Free Will Baptist Denomination, preaching for more than 30 years at 6 different churches. He was retired from the West Virginia Department of Transportation after more than 24 years of service. He enjoyed hunting deer, fishing, wood crafts, traveling, and attending revivals and gospel sings.

Left to cherish Robert’s memory is his loving wife of 62 years, Betty L. Cornell; a son, Brian Cornell; two sisters, Mary Morehead and Maxine Love; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Fredia Richards and Betty Richards; and a brother, Marion Jonathan.

The family would like to say a special thank you to their neighbors, Doug (Debbie) Bumgarner, Shawn (Lisa) Thornton, Bob (Eulah) Starcher, Mike (Lisa) Townsend, and the nephews for all your caring and help.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, with Pastor Randy Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 11am – 1pm, at the funeral home.
