Rita Schreckengost Lamp, 75, of Vienna, passed away peacefully June 15, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born August 9, 1943 in Roane County, WV, the daughter of the late William Ray Chancey and Josephine (Ice) Hardesty. Rita retired from Public Debt and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Vienna. She taught ball room dancing, loved music, church and animals. She is survived by two daughters, Traci Welch of Mineral Wells and Lori Caplinger (Michael) of Parkersburg; two sons, Thomas Long (Kim) of Ravenswood and Jimmy Schreckengost II of Vienna; three step-children, Tammy Schreckengost, Tina McMullen and Tony Schreckengost; five grandchildren, Jonathan Long (Michelle), Jeremy Caplinger (Angela), Katie Crislip (Andrew), Chelsea Fletcher (Kevin) and Gail Hatfield; five great-grandchildren, Aubree, Emma, Sadie, Mila and Sawyer; sister-in-law and friend, Kay Lockhart and a special friend, Betty Toppari; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Schreckengost; step-father, Leslie Hardesty and a brother, William Larry Chancey. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave, Vienna, WV with Pastor Jon Lands officiating. Burial will follow the service at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Wednesday the 19th from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Vienna and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
