Rita Ann George-Barnhart, 70, of Slate, WV, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Belpre Landing Nursing Facility. She was born January 12, 1951 in Marietta, OH, a daughter of the late Okey and Anna Johnson George. Rita was employed at Love and Care Personal Assisted Living and was a member of the Rockport Church of Christ. She enjoyed going to church, fishing, and her Harley motorcycle. Rita had flown a plane once during her lifetime. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Rita is survived by her husband of 48 years, Daniel R. Barnhart; two sons, Daniel R. Barnhart Jr. (Anita) and Michael W. Barnhart both of Parkersburg; two sisters, June E. Sanders (Leo) of Morgantown, WV and Sue E. Wine of Melbourne, Fla.; Justin Barnhart (Jaiden), Nathaniel Barnhart (Jasmine), Lakin Kimble (Kayla), Brooklyn Kimble (Beau) and Ryan Kimble; two great-grandchildren, Nyla Smith and Parker Barnhart; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her infant brother, Robert George. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg with J. D. Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Those wishing to attend the services, CDC guidelines will be observe, social distancing and masks are mandatory.
