Richard “Dick” A. Schrider, Sr., 71, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away peacefully at his home on September 21, 2014.He was born July 1, 1943 in Parkersburg, the son of the late Floyd Homer and Lucille Barnhill Schrider.Dick was a member of the U.S. Navy and the Navy reserves. He retired from Ames Co. as a Pipefitter andbelonged to the American Legion, VFW and the United Steel Workers.He is survived by his companion, Patricia McCarty of Vienna, W.Va.; daughter, Tamra Kirk of Vienna, W.Va.; son, Rick Schrider, Jr. of Barboursville, W.Va.; his grandchildren, Chase Schrider of Ona, W.Va. and Andrew Kirk of Vienna, W.Va.; and a sister-in-law, Norma Schrider of Parkersburg, W.Va.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ida R. Barnes Schrider; and one brother, Phillip Owen Schrider.The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Strecker Cancer Center and Amedisys Hospice Care.Funeralservices will be held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with a military service by the American Legion Post 15 Color Guard and Pastor Sandra Runion officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to6:00 p.m.
