Richard Arthur Sams

Richard Arthur “Dick” Sams, 87, of Mineral Wells, passed away January 28, 2025 at The Willows Center. He was born July 24, 1937, a son of the late James R. and Hazel Lambert Sams.

Richard is a Parkersburg High School graduate and worked at Dernberger Tractor in sales and repair. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Mineral Wells. He enjoyed cutting firewood, gardening, and watching Westerns.

He is survived by his children, Kathy Samples (Tim) of Beverly, OH, Charlotte Wilcoxen (Kris) of Coolville, OH., Richard “Rick” Sams (Nancy) of Parkersburg, and Randy Sams of Mineral Wells; six grandchildren, Randy Sams (Nichole), Dustin Sams (Nikki), Krissi Whitlatch (Brandon), Bret Wilcoxen (Sarah), Zac Wilcoxen (Sasha), and James Sams; four great-grandchildren, Hayden, Lyra, Elijah, and Avery; his sister, Charlotte McClead; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Janet Sams and granddaughter, Kelly Sams.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St, Parkersburg with Minister Larry Wigal officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
