Richard A. McCloskey, Sr. 86 of Vienna, W.Va. passed away November 26, 2014, at Emeritus of Marietta surrounded by his loving family.He was born June 7, 1928 in Chillicothe, Ohio, a son of the late Dwight and Mildred Kramer McCloskey.He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served on the USS Dayton. Richard was an Ohio University Alumnus. While attending Ohio University he met his wife, Betty Lou and they were married October 20, 1951 in Springfield, Ohio. He spent his entire career in the aggregate and concrete business, having retired from Carr Concrete in Waverly, W.Va. He was an avid golfer. Richard and his late wife Betty Lou enjoyed ballroom dancing and were active in several dance clubs. He was an active member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Vienna, W.Va. for 55 years. Richard is survived by one daughter, Nanette Brunton (Bruce) of Marietta, Ohio; two sons, Patrick McCloskey (Candi) of Vienna, W.Va. and Richard A. McCloskey, Jr. (Kim) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Ben Brunton, Aimee Brunton (Michael Miller), Courteney McCloskey, Sean McCloskey (Madison McCormick), Christopher , Jennifer and Michelle McCloskey; four great-grandchildren, Akrista, Chloe, Layla and Braylon McCloskey; one niece, Monica Gibson Spencer, three nephews, George William Gibson, III, Andrew Gibson and Douglas Gibson; one sister-in-law, Florence McClean Gibson and golf partner and friend Chris Keney.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Gibson McCloskey.A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Vienna with Father John Gallagher as celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday one hour prior to services.The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Amedisys Hospice and the staff at Emeritus of Marietta for their love and care.
