Rex Wade Sims, 63, of Palestine, W.Va., passed away on May 21, 2014 at his residence.He was born February 15, 1951, in Elizabeth, W.Va., a son of the late Eli Justine and Mary M. Corbitt Sims.Rex was a graduate of Wirt County High School with the class of 1971. He was owner/operator of R & W Transport and was a truck driver for over 30 years.He was a member of the Wirt County Masonic Lodge #82 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop and loved helping his friends and neighbors.He is survived by one daughter, Mary G. Sims of Palestine, W.Va.; one son, Charles E. Sims (Tammy) of Palestine; two sisters, Ellen Y. Sims-Smith (Steven) of McConnelsville, Ohio and Elizabeth A. Lambert (Wayne) of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; one uncle, Joe Sims (Joyce) of Rockport, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Angel Deem of Palestine; and his beloved dog “Stimpy”.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jason W. Sims; and two brothers, Donal R. Sims and Paul David Sims.Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Jim Corbitt officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services will be assisting the family.
