Reba Fern Dougherty

Reba Fern Dougherty, 94, of Parkersburg went to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 26th, 2024 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital – North, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

She was born September 12th, 1929, in Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of the late Walter B. and Susan Jane (Lockhart) Stanley.  She was married to her husband, Harry Francis Dougherty, for 61 years until his death in 2009.

Reba was a 1947 graduate of Parkersburg High School.  She worked as a Secretary and Librarian for 26 years retiring from Ohio Valley College.  She was also a loving and caring mother to her children.  She enjoyed Scrap Booking, playing the piano and organ, and working word search puzzles.  She was an excellent cook who enjoyed having people for dinner and was especially known for her homemade noodles and bread.  She was a faithful member of the Marrtown Road Church of Christ and taught many children bible classes.

She is survived by one son, Don Dougherty (Brenda) of Davisville, WV, one daughter, Kathy Dougherty Kemp (Michael) of Edmond, OK.  Grandchildren, Jesse Kemp (Cindy) of Edmond, OK, Jared Dougherty (Amey) of Morristown, NJ, Justin Kemp (Amanda) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Julie Dougherty Vaughan (Dustin) of Cross Lanes, WV.  Reba was also blessed with five Great-Grand Children, Alyx Kemp, Alina Kemp, Noah Vaughan, Connor Vaughan, and Stella Kemp, and baby boy Kemp (expected August 2024.)

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry Francis Dougherty, one sister, Faye Franklin, one brother, Frank Stanley, and three infant sons.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 3 pm on June 4th, 2024, followed by a funeral service at Lambert- Tatman Funeral Home – South Parkersburg.  Evangelist Doug Petty, one of Reba’s nephews, will officiate the funeral service.  Per Reba’s request, her earthly body will be cremated, and interned beside her husband at Evergreen South Cemetery.
