Ramona Rita Singleton, 83, of Parkersburg, W.Va., loving wife and mother, passed away August 8, 2012, at her residence with her daughter by her side.She was born January 30, 1929, in Athens, Ohio, a daughter of the late Alice and James Joseph Sr. Her parents moved to Parkersburg when she was an infant and opened the Ole Spanish Inn on 7th St and later the Hideaway on Juliana St.Ramona attended DeSales Heights Academy and graduated from Mountain State College. She managed the Ormond Dress Shop on Market St. for many years until her early retirement in 1975. She loved meeting her lady friends for lunch and bingo. Ramona loved to travel and shop for clothes anywhere but Parkersburg. She has always had a special pet over the years and leaves behind her spoiled rotten cat, Piewacket.She is survived by her daughter, Monica Singleton; her two brothers, Junior Joseph of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Don Joseph of Florida; and her special nephew, Butch Joseph of Parkersburg, W.Va.Her daughter wishes to thank the ex-employees of Amedysis Hospice, Cathy Hart, Jessica Thomas, Jonathan Snider and all the aides who worked with devotion and love to care for Ramona. Special thanks to Dr. David Avery, Pam, Linda Sistrunk, Amanda Flowers, Shelley Edwards and Sarena Ruble. It takes a village. Anyone who knew Ramona will remember her quick wit and will always have funny stories to tell about her.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Singleton, who passed away May 25, 2012. They were happy to celebrate their May 8th Wedding Anniversary marking 63 years together before Gene's death.At her request, there will be no visitation or services. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Lambert Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. A mass to celebrate Gene and Ramona's life will be planned at a later date at St. Francis Xavier Church.
