Rachel Amelia Perine

Rachel Perine knocked on heaven's door and passed on Sept. 9, 2016. She was the daughter of Harvey and Virginia Elliott Smith. Because her father was a Civil War veteran, Rachel became known as the last surviving daughter of a Civil War veteran in West Virginia. Rachel was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Eastern Star, and the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine. Rachel was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin H. and son, Benjamin D. She is survived by Edwin (Sheila), remaining son. Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg with Rev. Rick Johnson, Rev. Michael R. Seely and Mrs. Barbara E. Neely as presenters. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Noon to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Eastern Star Chapter #14 of Parkersburg will provide a private funeral ceremony prior to the service for their member, Rachel. Casual dress and no flowers requested.
