Phillip Neil Hill

September 3, 1932 — February 13, 2018

Phillip Neil Hill, 85, of Vienna, West Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. He passed away peacefully in the presence of his loved ones. He was born in Doddridge County, West Virginia on September 3, 1932, to Hayward G. and Clarice Powell Hill. He was the youngest of four children. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his two sisters, Mariette Lemley and Helen Grace Hill, and brother, Bobby G. Hill. Phillip graduated from Parkersburg High School with the class of 1950 and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Cabot during the Korean War. He married Janet Grace Buck on July 12, 1953, at Wesley U.M. Church. Phil retired from Amoco Corp. in 1988 (Bakelite, Union Carbide, Amoco). During his 32 years of service, he served as Union committeeman to supervisor. Since his retirement, Phil has stayed busy enjoying time on the family farm, which was his mother's home place in Doddridge County, and helping out any way he could at Wayside U.M. Church. He loved his family camping trips, hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. He enjoyed Carnival cruises and zip-lined at the age of 83 in Honduras. He enjoyed spending time with the grandkids, especially watching them play sports, and his favorite schnauzer, Bella. Phillip is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Janet; his four children, Darbie Lynn Higgs (Stephen), Darla Mae Fought (Bob), Jeffery David Hill (Jeanie), and Craig Alan Hill (Melinda); seven grandchildren (plus one in heaven); nine great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends at Wayside Church. The family would like to thank Housecalls Hospice for all the care that they provided. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Wayside U.M. Church Building Fund. Visitation will be at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Vienna from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 16, and one hour prior to service, which will be held at Wayside U.M. Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, officiating by Rev. Rick DeQuaise and Rev. Sandy Runnion. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military rites by the American Legion Post 15.
