Paula Maureen Cross

Paula M. Cross, 79, of Mineral Wells, passed away peacefully at the Elizabeth Care Center surrounded by excellent nursing staff on August 1, 2024. She was born May 31, 1945, a daughter of the late George R. and Lola M. Cline Patterson.

After graduating from high school, Paula honorably served four years in the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. She was a Women in the Air Force representative, and followed her time actively serving as a recruiter.  She went on to be a floral designer, an accountant, and eventually a business owner. She enjoyed gardening, farming, traveling, and bird watching. She was an avid sports enthusiast who knew more stats than most men, and mostly enjoyed cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs. Second to being in the military, she was most proud of being a grandma and great-grandma “Nanny.”

Left to cherish her memory include three children, Melissa Nulter of Plano, TX.; Rhodessa Hoselton (Rick) of Mineral Wells; and Dale Cross (Faith) of Wake Forest, NC.; nine grandchildren, Tara Elms (Jeremiah), Andrew Hoselton, Colleen Hoselton, Aaron Hoselton, Lisa, Taylor, Daniel, Noah, and Lilly; four great-grandchildren, Hailee, Logan, Caleb, and Remington; a brother, Donald Patterson; a sister, Nola Ruth Roberts; and a special best friend, Linda Humphries.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Duane G. Cross; five brothers; and five sisters.

Funeral services will be 6:00 PM, Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 4 -6 PM, Thursday, at the funeral home. A military honors committal service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 9, 2024 at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown.

The family wishes to thank those who cared for her during her entire stay at Elizabeth Care Center.
