Patty Ann Floyd Johnson

Patty Ann Floyd Johnson passed away peacefully on January 12, 2011, after an extended illness. She was surrounded by the love and comfort of her children. She was born May 10, 1938, the daughter of the late Jesse L. and Pauline Yerkey Floyd from Sand Fork, Gilmer County, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil V. Johnson. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Yerkey Floyd; her father, Jesse L. Floyd; her sister, Linda Floyd Wright; her younger brother, Jack Floyd; and her eldest grandson, Michael Johnson. She is survived by her children, ThomasJohnson (Diane) of Williamstown, W.Va., PaulaJohnson Graham of Columbus, OH,Daniel Johnson (Anne) of Barlow, OH, and Joseph Johnson also of Vincent.OH: grandchildren,MelanieDye, GregoryJohnson, BenjaminJohnson, MatthewGraham, CodyJohnson; and AnnaJohnson; great-grandchildren, KeiraDye and ZoeDye; her brother, JohnFloyd of Fairmont, W.Va.; and her first cousin, LarryMorton of Grantsville, W.Va. Patty attended public school in Sand Fork and Glenville, W.Va., and Gilmer County and Calhoun County High School in Grantsville, W.Va. She was a voice and piano student of Professor Harold S. Orendoff then of Glenville State College and played oboe in the Gilmer County Band under the direction of Walter S. “Dusty” Rhoades. She was a member of the Gilmer County Historical Society, The Ohio Valley Literary Group, and a fledgling member of the Marietta Chapter of the Daughters of the America Revolution. She worked as a freelance writer, contributing to Platform in The Marietta Times, The Revue in The Parkersburg News and Sentinel, and also the Glenville Democrat, with an occasional contribution to the Calhoun Chronicle and also a few entries on the GHSA website. Patty wishes her memory to be that her finest achievement was as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Funeral services will be conducted at 11AM Monday January 17, 2011, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, with Pastor Steve Delay officiating. Interment will follow shortly after with graveside services at 2PM at the Otterbein Cemetery, Glenville, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Saturday January 15, 2011, at the funeral home
