Patty L. Barr Monroe Crouch, 83, of Waverly, WV, passed away on April 4, 2026. Born in Perry County, Kentucky, on October 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Ivory B. (Lindon) Barr and Clyde E. Barr.
Patty attended Vienna Grade School, Neale Elementary School, Jackson Junior High, and was a member of the first eighth-grade class to attend Parkersburg High School when it opened. She began her working career at G.C. Murphy’s and Jerry’s, later serving as a Tupperware manager from 1967 to 1973. She then joined Montgomery Ward, where she worked as a sales associate and was later promoted to oversee merchandising across 13 departments. She retired from Montgomery Ward in 1986.
She was deeply involved in her community, holding memberships in the VFW, Moose, Eagles, and American Legion. She was also a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star, joining Vienna Chapter #15 in 1972. Over her 54 years of service, she served as Worthy Matron three times, held multiple state appointments, and was elected Associate Grand Conductress in 2000. She went on to serve as Worthy Grand Matron of West Virginia from 2003 to 2004 and remained active for many years, supporting charitable efforts and fundraising across the state.
Patty had a deep love for music, especially Southern gospel and classic country. She loved to sing whenever she had the opportunity, especially at church. Her love for music was a defining trait—over the course of her life, she attended hundreds of concerts and met many of her musical idols.
She is survived by her son, Raymond Robert Monroe Jr.; daughter-in-law, Sandra Monroe; grandsons, Sean Monroe (Matt) and Michael Monroe (Brianna); niece Vickie VanClief (John) and many extended family members. She will also be deeply missed by many extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Joseph C. Crouch; son Christopher Monroe (Sandra); sister, Linda VanClief (Charles); brother, Carl Barr; nephews Doug VanClief and Carl Barr Jr.; and her grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna with Lewis Braiphwaite officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Family will accept visitors on Friday, April 10th from 6-8 p.m., and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
