Orma Kathleen Proffitt, 95, of Parkersburg, passed away July 15, 2017 at Parkersburg Care and Rehab. She was born July 8, 1922 in Wirt County, WV, the daughter of the late Ofa G. and Augusta Lewis Thompson. Orma was a homemaker and loving wife and mother and grandmother. She enjoyed bowling, bingo and shopping. Orma was a member of Grace Gospel Church. She is survived by one daughter, Linda (Robert) Smith of Parkersburg; one son, James Proffitt, Sr. of Parkersburg; four grandchildren, James, Jr. Proffitt, Timothy (Nancy) Proffitt, Robin (Jurgen) Blugel and Raymond Scott Smith; ten great-grandchildren, Justin (Rachel), Jacob (Laura), Katie, Lauren, Lindsey, Kelsey, Chelsea (Bo), Andy (Savannah), Ben and Tiffani (Brian); twelve great-great-grandchildren, Preston, Grayson, Mason, Noah, Chevelle, Marlena, Braxton, Connor, Paisley, Colson, Lil Kate and Opie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Carl Proffitt; two sisters, Louise Miller and Betty Swisher; one brother, Harold Thompson; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Proffitt. Funeral services for Orma will be at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, WV, with Pastor Bill Solomon officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday.
