Oren Ernest Gore

Oren Ernest Gore was born April 4, 1928 in Hewett, W.Va., the oldest of seven children of Vada and Arnold Gore. He passed from this life on August 19, 2016. Oren attended Scott High School in Madison, W.Va. and married Erma Tawney on September 11, 1948 in Madison. They lived in several locations in W.Va. and also in Cleveland, OH before settling in Parkersburg in 1958. After retiring in 1991 from Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, W.Va., he and Erma enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. He was a member of the Camden Avenue Church of Christ and attended regularly until recent years when he was primarily home bound. He also attended the Church of God during his early years. Oren was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, camping, hunting and fishing. His beloved wife Erma died in March of this year after 67 years of marriage. He is survived by his three children, Greg Gore (Judy), Connie Stone and Tim Gore (Diane); five grandchildren, Matt Stone (Erin McCoy), Amy Gore (Sam McFee), Spencer Gore, Holly Long (Brian) and Chelsea Gore; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Canary, Noelle Long and Cole McFee; and one step great-grandchild, Dylan McCoy. He is also survived by two brothers, Bob (Sandy)Gore of Cleveland, OH and Larry (Mary Ann) Gore of Strongsville,OH and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Oren was preceded in death by his parents, Vada and Arnold Gore, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2016 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. south Parkersburg with Pastor Jason Spade officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.
