A beautiful rainbow came across the sky the day Opal passed away. God had granted her wish. Opal Marie Smith, 84, of Washington, WV, was called home to be with her heavenly father on Tuesday, July 9, 2019. She was born October 28, 1934, in Wood County, WV, the daughter of the late Walter and Vera Tennant Milhoan. Opal enjoyed fishing, playing bingo, flower gardening and watching hummingbirds. She was a baptist by faith and a member of the New Life Baptist Church, Belleville, WV. Opal is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert A. “Bob” Smith; three children, Larry Smith (Joyce) of Washington, WV, Patty Fluharty of Morehead City, NC and Tammy Province (Donald “Duck” Ramsey) of Ravenswood, WV; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Smith of Parkersburg; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and close cousin, Shirley Tennant. In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her son, Robert E. “Bubba” Smith; her infant brother, Roy Edward Milhoan; and a special aunt, Valley Belle White. Funeral services will be held at 1pm. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, south Parkersburg with Pastor Scott Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. on Friday at the funeral home.
