Norman Eugene Kreaps 86, of Vienna, W.Va., went to be with the Lord and his dearly departed wife on March 23, 2015, at his home in Vienna, W.Va.He was born February 28, 1929 in Zanesville, Ohio, a son of the late Augustus and Mildred Henderson Kreaps.Norman spent his entire life in the Wood and Washington Counties of W.Va. and Ohio. He started his life's occupation as a brush cutter for the Monongahela Power Company in the 1940's and retired in 1988 as a truck driver for Marietta Electric Company, a division of Monongahela Power Company. Norman and his brother enlisted in the Navy in 1951 during the Korean conflict and he spent most of his service on the USS Cascade, a mother ship for destroyers in the North Atlantic Ocean, being discharged in 1954 after 4 years of service. During his Navy career, Norman met and married Lorena Eleanor Alley Lambert, a widow with two small daughters, who he would adopt as his very own and with the birth of his daughter Kathy, he raised these daughters to be fine young women with families of their own. Norman was always active in the Church of Christ and was a member of the 36th Street Church of Christ, with him and his wife's motto “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” Two of his daughters are married to Church of Christ Ministers; Ted Blackwood of North Canton and Marvin Greene of Valdosta. Nathan Greene, a grandson, is also a minister at the Barlow-Vincent, Ohio Church of Christ. Norman was an avid woodworker and gardener, who enjoyed both hunting and fishing and had been a long time service attendant at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home. Norman is survived by his sister, Sheila Sue Kreaps Hardin (Darwin) of Perrysville, Ohio; his three daughters, Kathy Ann Kreaps Greene (Marvin) of Valdosta, Georgia, Linda Marie Kreaps Blackwood (Ted) of North Canton, Ohio, and Jacqueline Faye Kreaps Collier of Parkersburg; he was also a grandparent to six grandchildren, Lee Collier Jr., Ryan Blackwood, Julie DeNoi (Scott), Chad Greene (Helen), Nathan Greene (Meridith), and Amanda Doak (Sam); two great-grandchildren, Kylie Marie Greene and Jocelyn Alley Doak; and is survived by special friends, Grace McDougle, Larry and Lisa Gibson, and Ed and Ileene Lemley.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lorena Eleanor Kreaps; and his younger brother, Donald Kreaps.Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Mark Mason of the 36th Street Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens with graveside services by Marvin Greene of Lake Park Church of Christ.
