Norma Jean Dent

Norma Jean Dent, 69 of Belpre, Ohio, passed away on November 14, 2014 at her residence.She was born August 9, 1945, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Kenneth M. and Lenora Stephens Shafer.Norma was a 1963 graduate of Parkersburg High School and retired from United Bank after 35 years of service. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers, crocheting and Bingo. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Belpre and Rockland United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Jay Brethauer (Karen) of Mineral Wells, W.Va. and Eric R. Dent (Courtney) of Washington, D.C.; one daughter, Kelly S. Bock of Belpre; two step-sons, Gregory Dent (Rhonda) of Texas and Steven Dent of California; one sister, Darlene A. Thorn (Mike) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one brother, Kenneth Shafer (Rosann) of Franklin, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Ray Dent in November 2008; and her step-father, Joseph R. Farra.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Blvd. Belpre, Ohio with Pastor Jim Condrey officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens and Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
