Nancy Clara

Nancy Clara Nix, 77, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Marietta Memorial Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Mancelona, Michigan on May 26, 1940 to Earl and Bernice (Flinn) Spires and was the eldest of three daughters. She is survived by her sister, Nellie Spires-Wicker and was preceded in death by her youngest sister, Donna Hoag. Nancy was the salutatorian of her graduating class in 1958 at Willow Run High School in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She married the late veteran Eugene “Jim” Nix, the love of her life, and passed 8 years later almost to the day of his death, to where they would be reunited again. She is survived by their 3 children, Terri Griffin and her husband, Cleave and their 9 children; Allen Nix and his wife, Robyn and their son, & Dana (Nix) Delaney and her husband, Nick along with their three children. She also leaves behind a number of great-grandchildren and even a great-great-granddaughter! Throughout her life, Nancy was an avid shopper, loving wife and parent, and an active member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the VFW in Columbus, Ohio. In more recent years, you could find Nancy in the local antique mall, baking pumpkin bread, or playing with her two dachshunds, Tucker and Suzie! She was also a member of The Warehouse Church in Parkersburg, WV. There will be a graveside memorial at the Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, OH, where she wished to be buried beside her husband. The date will be set at the convenience of the family. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home on Pike Street in Parkersburg will be assisting with cremation arrangements.
