Michael “Mike” James McNally, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 22, 2019 while visiting close family in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He was born on February 18, 1949, in Buffalo, New York, the youngest child of Francis and Frances (O’Donnell) McNally. He spent his childhood and early adulthood living in New York and New Jersey, where his lifetime love of the New York Yankees was deeply rooted. He attended Waldwick High School in Waldwick, New Jersey. Due to his father’s declining health, Mike left high school early to enter the work force, and later completed his GED. He resided in Belpre, Ohio for most of his life, later retiring to the Dallas, Texas area. Mike was a professional contractor by trade, specializing in mechanical contracting for over 30 years as the owner of Belpre Mechanical Contracting. He had a strong passion for baseball, both as a player and a fan. He was a Life Member of the Parkersburg Elks Lodge and an avid supporter of all West Virginia University Mountaineer sports. Mike leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years, Terrie K. McNally; sons Michael James McNally II of Columbus, GA, Mark (Shellie) Benton of Celina, TX, Matthew (Taylor) Benton of Bradenton, FL, Michael (Marie) Benton of The Colony, TX; and a daughter Amy (Wayne) Darnold of Cairo, WV. His treasured grandchildren are Jaden and Garet McNally, Eric, Jeremy, and Cole Darnold, Madison, Hayden, Ashton, Hudson, and Braelyn Benton, Jack Piatt, Stephanie, Jessica, and Justin Stevens, and Nicole Mierke. He is also survived by a brother, Thomas McNally (Elizabeth) of Davisville, WV; brothers-in-law, Jim (Kim) Pyatt of Texarkana, AR and Ken (Jody) of San Diego, CA; uncle and aunt, Bob and Charlene Smith of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; several nephews, nieces, great-grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant child, his brother Francis “Frank” McNally, and his sister Kathleen (McNally) Flinn. Michael’s memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2019 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home at 1305 Washington Blvd. Belpre, Ohio. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations in his honor to the American Heart Association.
