Maxine R. Holden Powell

Maxine R. Holden Powell, 100, of Parkersburg, WV passed away November 21, 2025, surrounded by loving family, at her residence, with the compassionate care of Amedisys Hospice.

Daughter of the late Preston D. and Bessie Jones Holden, Maxine was born July 7, 1925 in Doddridge County, WV. She was a 1942 graduate of Doddridge County High School, worked at Powell's Honda as a parts manager, and formerly worked at GC Murphy's. She was very dedicated to her family, spending most of her time taking care and loving her nieces, nephews, in addition to her own children and grandchildren. She was a devoted United Brethern by faith, active in the VFW and DAV, and a lifetime member of the 1212.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald D. Powell; sister, Juanita Vanscoy and brother, Preston Holden.

Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Donald J. Powell (Carol) of Wheelersburg, OH, Frederick H. Powell (Barbara) of Parkersburg, WV - with whom she made her home, and Preston Gilbert "Gil" Powell (Linda) of Murphytown, WV; ten grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, who will miss her dearly.

Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home on Green St. with Pastor Kurt Busiek officiating. Burial will follow at Archbold Cemetery in Doddridge County. Visitation will be 11:00 AM to time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
