Matilda L Broadwater

Matilda L.”Tillie” Broadwater, age 97, long time resident of Vienna, WV. passed away peacefully Thursday, December 23, 2010 at The Inn at Marietta. She was born June 23, 1913, in Buckhannon, WV, a daughter of the late Frank Otis and Liza Jane Wise Leonard.She graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College. She was a retired Math teacher at Jackson Junior High School for 17 years. She was a member and past president of P.E.O. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Parkersburg, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, church secretary and served on various boards.She is survived by one daughter, Ann Pitchford (Stev) of Vienna; three sons, Ashford Broadwater II “Bus” (Carolyn) of Vienna, Leonard Broadwater of Tollgate, WV and Bill Broadwater (Janet) of Vienna; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ashford Broadwater Sr. and one sister Orella Rhodes.Funeral services will be held Monday, December 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home-Vienna, with Reverend Rich McClure officiating. Visitation will be 3-6:00 P.M., Sunday, and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 804 Market Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
