Mary M. Powell

Mary M. Powell, 86, of Vienna passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born January 28, 1939, in Doddridge County, a daughter of the late Dallas Powell and Veronica Richards of Smithburg.

Miss Powell was a school teacher in Wood County. Later she worked for the Wood County Department of Health and Human Resources. She was a member of the Parkersburg Christian Church. She enjoyed working and spending time in her flower garden, loved her cats, reading, and traveling. She had a host of friends, some of which lived with her for periods of time.

She is survived by her cousins, Mrs. Sonja Upton of Hurricane and Mrs. Letitia Bennett (John) of Chapmanville.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an aunt, Osia Richards McKinney (James Craig); four uncles, Hubert Richards, Wilford Richards, Ross Richards, and Adam Richards; and a cousin, Lorene McKinney Dotson (Ora).

A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the West Union Masonic Memorial Park, in West Union, WV.

Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, has been entrusted with Mary’s final wishes and is honored to serve her family.
