Mary Elizabeth Pierce, 83, of Boaz, WV, formerly a long time resident of Vienna, WV passed away June 11, 2018 at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg after a long illness. All of her family and friends are extremely sad to see Mary leave them behind as she was one of the sweetest souls on earth, but are at peace to know she won't suffer any longer. Mary Elizabeth Harless Pierce was born January 29, 1935 to Frankie Virginia Harless in Washington, WV. Mary was raised by her grandparents, Delaware Howard Harless and Mary Belle Fox Harless. Mary helped her grandparents throughout her childhood and teen years working in the grocery store they owned and operated. Mary graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1952 and worked at the Wood County Bank in Parkersburg in the 1950's. Mary also worked at Ohio Valley Bank later in her life. Mary married Dan Pierce on August 12, 1955 in Vienna at St. John United Methodist Church where Mary had been a member for over 50 years. Mary was a charter member of the Esther Circle at the church and was currently a member of the United Methodist Women. Mary is the mother of two children, Jennifer Lynn Parsons who is married to Ralph Parsons of Ripley, WV and John Michael Pierce who is married to Susan Pierce of High Point, NC. Mary is also the grandmother to Taran Amanda Parsons Wolford of Kenna, WV and Jayne Elizabeth Pierce of High Point, NC. Mary also has a great – grandchild, Sarah Ashlyn Wolford of Kenna, WV. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frankie Virginia Harless Baker, step father, Gale Baker and a great-grandchild, Sawyer Andrew Wolford who passed away in January of 2015, shortly after his birth. Visitation for Mary will be at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave, Vienna on Thursday, June 14th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 15th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John United Methodist Church at the corner of 40th St. and Grand Central Ave, Vienna with Rev. John Lowther and Rev. Norman Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Pond Creek Cemetery near Rockport. The Pierce family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. John Onestinghel and Dr. Mike Roberts of Parkersburg for their professional, compassionate and caring manner during this difficult time. Mary and her family wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to St. John United Methodist Church in Vienna.
