Mary W. “Winnie” Flanagan 95, of Vienna, passed away peacefully at her residence Wednesday, August 31, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 14, 1921 in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Virgil M. and Lula Fankhauser Eaton. Winnie graduated from the DeSales Heights Visitation Academy in 1939. She formerly worked at C & P Telephone Company as an operator, and was a homemaker. She was a devoted member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Vienna where she was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Women and St. Martha's Circle. She was a member of the Worthington Women's Golf Association, the Vienna Civitan Club. She volunteered at the soup kitchen at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Good Samaritan Center at Wayside United Methodist Church, and Souper Saturday at Beechwood Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed her card playing games at St. Michael playing Samba and Bridge. She was a member of the DeSales Heights Alumni Association. Winnie and Ralph helped establish the Sheltered Workshop of Wood County in 1960, and also established the WV Association for the Developmentaly Disabled (The ARC). She is survived by two daughters, Patricia M. Flanagan of Vienna and Jane E. Flanagan of Beckley, WV; one son, Michael D. Flanagan (Dianna) of Vienna; four grandchildren, Christi L. Greathouse (Darren) of Vienna, Kelli D. Sprout (Jeremy) of Belpre, Brian M. Flanagan (Stephanie) of Parkersburg and Dr. Daniel W. Moye,II D.D.S. of Beckley; seven great-grandchildren, Emily R., Claire M., Alexis K. and Madalyn K. Flanagan all of Parkersburg, Hannah E., Audrey N. and Grace K. Sprout all of Belpre; two nephews, Richard P. Allen, MD. (Rose), Robert Allen (Kris) and Mary Jasiak (Jim) all of Michigan. In addition to her parents Winnie was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph U. Flanagan in 2004, and one sister, Grace Elinor Allen in 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday September 3,2016 at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Vienna with Reverend John Gallagher as celebrant. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, September 2nd at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Vienna with Rosary Services at 8:00 P.M. Friday.
