Mary Melline Engle, 97, of Parkersburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Camden Clark Medical Center. She was born May 26, 1920, in Gilmer County, WV, daughter of Wilford and Madge Goff Bush. Mary worked at Fairmont Foods and Presto Lunch. She retired from the City of Parkersburg where she spent several years as a crossing guard and loved her years there working with the children. She enjoyed bingo, listening to music and dancing, gardening and just being outdoors. Mary’s home for the last twenty nine years has been at Unity Place in Parkersburg. Mary loved her Unity family, enjoyed getting together with them to talk and laugh. She was very proud of beginning and being in charge of hosting Ray Fought and the Country Travelers Band which performed at her building every Thursday night for twenty nine years. Mary attended Camden Temple Church. She is survived by her two daughters, Janell Brown of Parkersburg and Donna Hall of York, SC; one sister, Bonnie Allison of Tanner, WV; one brother, Wilford “Bud” Bush of Tanner, WV; eight grandchildren, Tom Brown (Debbie), Tim Brown, Todd Brown (Donna), Dolores Nolan (Buddy), Terri Bernhoft (Mark), Sean Hall, Mary Beth Edwards and Chad Hall; fourteen great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren, an enormous amount of nieces and nephews loved by her, and special “like a daughter” friend of the family, Jeanie Crew. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin B. Engle; one daughter, Shirley Reed; three son’s in-law, Gene Reed, Larry Brown and Larry Hall; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Joel Bernhoft; one brother, Bernard Bush; and one sister, Phyllis Lawson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, south Parkersburg with Pastor Lloyd Keith officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Liberty Cemetery in Gilmer County, WV. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
