Mary Elizabeth Burd

Mary Elizabeth (Runion) Burd was gifted to this world, October 2, 1929 and returned to her father January 5, 2016. Mom was a remarkable lady and for those who were fortunate enough to know her would likely remember her kindness, strength and independence. Raising her family on her own following the untimely death of her husband and our father, she fulfilled the role of both parents with remarkable poise. Mom is the daughter of Grace and Sam Runion, who have been awaiting their reunion for many years. Going home before her along with her parents was her husband, William Robert Burd, siblings, Naomi Casto and Claude Runion and one son, William Denton Burd. Mom loved and married William Robert Burd and raised three children, Mary Green of West Columbuia, WV, William Denton Burd, who was called home in 2010, and Greg and Diane Burd of Vienna. Mom treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brittany and Jon Thomas of Vienna, W.Va., Elizabeth and Rex Jernigan of Houma, La, Rachel Burd of Parkersburg, W.Va., Morgan Wright, David Wright and several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Mom was a 50+ year member of the South Parkersburg Baptist Church. She began working at the Pure Ice Cream Company, The Diamond department store and later worked and retired from Nashua Photo. Mom was a 50 year member of the order of the Eastern Star and volunteered for many years in the gift shop at Camden-Clark. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 8, 2016, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave, Vienna, WV, with Pastor Joe Busch officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen North Cemetery, Parkersburg. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Vienna. The family would like to thank the staff at Parkersburg Care and Rehab as well as those at House Calls Hospice, two fantastic groups of extraordinary people. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made towards her final arrangements at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna or the West Virginia Central Credit Union.
