Marvin A. Petty, 89 of Parkersburg passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 15, 1935 in Parkersburg, a son of the late John Rex and Murhl Bauman Petty. Marvin served in the National Guards and retired from American Cyanamid - Cytec Industries, where he was a chemical operator. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and NASCAR with Richard Petty being his favorite driver and with whom he met.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joan Wilson Petty; his daughters, Lucinda Snider (David) of Columbus, OH, Wanda Petty of Parkersburg, Cheryl Ullom (James) of Waverly, WV and Kelly Poiani of Cocoa Beach, FL; sister-in-law, Becky Petty; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Petty; son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Poiani; grandson, Christopher Ullom and siblings, Gene Petty, Betty Houser and Elsie Heinsleman.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the North End Church of Christ, Parkersburg with Mark Aites, Eddie Cooper and Jim Ullom officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green St, Parkersburg and one hour prior to the services Thursday at the Church.
