Marsha Dianne Gates

Marsha D. Gates age 76 of Parkersburg, WV passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025 at the Roane General Hospital.
She was born November 18, 1948 in Wood County, a daughter of the late Ralph G. and Wilma J. Vanhorn Cross. Marsha was a 1966 graduate of Parkersburg High School and Mountain State College and PCC/WVUP. She was retired from the Wood County Board of Education and a member of the Red Hill United Methodist Church. Marsha enjoyed reading, canning, crafts which included sewing and crocheting and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer Williamson (Matthew) of Parkersburg and Amanda Gates (Clinton Cottrell) of Spencer, WV; grandchildren, Haley Cottrell, Brian Cottrell (Brooklynn), Brandon Cottrell (Natalie), Keionnia Williamson and Dashiell Williamson; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Levi and Zayden; friend and pastor, Harold Ellison; best friends, Ann Whitecotton O’Neal, Barbara Joyce and Carolyn Lowe; three sisters, Nancy Bush of Aurora, CO, Martha Archer (Dale) of Mineral Wells and Cindy Hagerman (Ken) of Parkersburg and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle W. Gates and her Grammy.
The family would like to thank Roane General Hospital long term care unit for their wonderful care.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St, south Parkersburg with Pastor Harold Ellison officiating. Interment will follow at the Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
