Marlyn Claire Stubbe, 69, of South Dakota, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital.He was born Oct. 19, 1946 in Huron, S.D., a son of the late Clarence and Blanche Trewatha Stubbe.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had been a pilot in his younger years. He was retired from Shell Chemical Company where he was a Senior Chemist. He enjoyed going to car shows, riding his motorcycle, playing the banjo, golfing,dancing and traveling to all 50 states and some foreign countries. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks, Masonic Lodge, and was active in the United Methodist Church.He is survived by his wife, Rita (Watembach) Gauer-Stubbe; his son, Todd Stubbe (Morgan) of Marietta, Ohio; his daughter, Jennie Whitten (Al) of Little Hocking, Ohio; one sister, Madonna Riley of Mobridge, S.D.; nieces, Kara and Alissa Riley of Fargo, N.D. and Leah Riley of Mobridge, S.D.; step-children, Grant Gauer of Bismark, N.D., Tessa Gauer of Minneapolis, Minn., and Chris Keller of Wellston, Ohio; two grandchildren, Emma Stubbe and Olivia Whitten; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Holzapfel (Lynn) of Wellston, Ohio.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Sharon Davis-Stubbe; and a brother-in-law, John Riley.Memorial services will be held at a later date in De Smet, S.D. at the convenience of the family following an informal gathering in the Mid Ohio Valley to celebrate Marlyn's life.
