Marion Marie Henderson

Marion (Gough) Henderson, 89 of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away May 15, 2016 at Cedar Grove Personal Care. She was born August 2, 1926 in Spencer, W.Va. a daughter of the late Skoval K. and Hazel Gilpin Gough. Marion was a 1945 graduate of Spencer High School, during those years she was active in the drama club, music program and excelled in academics. She also enjoyed tap dancing at the American Legion with her father, Skoval Gough. She spent many hours playing the piano and organ at St. John's UMC for her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. While her children were growing up she was an active member of the Girl Scouts of America as a Girl Scout leader, enjoying camping and activities with her girls. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and in her church life she served and loved the Rebekah Circle at Stout Memorial UMC as well as being an active member of the Drama Ministry at Cornerstone Gospel Church. She was a Lay Minister and preached the Word of God in the local churches. She was the founder of the Parkland Place Kitchen Band which played at many local nursing and personal care homes. She was one of the original co-founders of the “Meals-On-Wheels” program of Parkersburg, W.Va. Our mother taught us every moment of every day what unconditional love is. But most importantly, her children rise up and call her blessed! She is survived by her eldest daughter, Ann (Ken) Holbert of Vienna, W.Va. and their children, Chrisy Nestor of Florida, her son, Dalton (Kim) Hodge and their children, Adalee and Draven Hodge, Brad Holbert of Parkersburg and his son, Fisher Holbert, her only son, Mike Henderson of Parkersburg and his son, Tom Henderson of Supply, NC and his children, Craven and Gabriel Henderson, youngest daughter, Lori Murnahan of Parkersburg, her children, Amanda (Wes) Hutson and their children, Alena Klimas, Sullivan Hutson, Alydia Hutson, Wesley Hutson Jr. and Samantha Hutson, and Patrick Murnahan of Parkersburg and his sons, Connor and Jacob Murnahan of Supply, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert J. Hendrson; one brother; and one sister. In honor of Marion Gough Henderson, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Office, 1218 Market St. Parkersburg, WV 26101. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. is assisting the family with arrangements. Friends and family are invited to share a memory, tear or sandwich at a celebration of Marion (Gough) Henderson's life on Saturday, June 11, 2016. A graveside service is planned for 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 23rd St. and Park Ave., Parkersburg. It will be followed by a gathering from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Kanawhat Community Building, 6605 Staunton Turnpike (W.Va. 47) Davisville, four and a half miles form Interstate 77 on W.Va. 47.
