Her legacy lives on in our hearts and daily lives, and we will carry it forward.
Marie Serhan Sadie, 91, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
She was born in Saidnaya, Syria on December 4, 1934, a daughter of the late Alexander and Jamilia Samone Serhan.
She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
Marie was a beautician for over 40 years, working in JC Penney's and Sears Beauty Salons before owning and operating her own salon, Marie's Styling Salon.
A loving mother, grandmother (Sittu), and great-grandmother, she would do anything for her family. Her heart, arms, and ears were always open, and she was a best friend to all her children.
Mom always loved having everyone over for family get-togethers, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved so much. We are grateful to have these beautiful memories to share.
Through her many accomplishments, the foundation she built, and the example she set, our mother shaped the family we are today. Her legacy lives on in our hearts and daily lives, and we will carry it forward.
Survivors include two children, Joseph (Rita) Sadie of Parkersburg and Jolene Taylor (Jeff) of Parkersburg; three grandchildren, A. Ryan Taylor, Mia Redin, and Joseph Sadie; one brother, Dr. Shihab Serhan of Spain; one sister, Georgette Allam of Saidnaya, Syria; nine great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Axel, Azalea, Waylon, Sparrow, Haven, Gus, London, and Savannah; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, George Joseph Sadie, Sr; one son, George J. Sadie Jr; three brothers, Neulla Serhan, Jamile Serhan, and Mueffa Serhan; and four sisters, Cordia Maarri, Samia Nadeff, Zarifa Schrecongost, and Juliet Taly.
