Margaret Jean “Peggy” Tingler Mace, age 88 of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Camden Clark Medical Center. She was born June 20, 1928 in Spencer, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ira Lee “Scott” Tingler and Ida Deem Tingler. Peggy had previously worked at the American Viscose Company, Yunker Manufacturing and Zides Sports Shop. She operated her own business where she lettered bowling shirts and school garments and made senior color day banners for PHS and PSHS. Peggy was the first woman to serve on the Vienna City Council. She served from 1989 to 1993 and again from 1997 to 2001. She started the Vienna Christmas Parade in 1982 and organized it for 15 years. She was a member of the Vienna Civitan Club for over 25 years and was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Vienna. Peggy is survived by her son, Donald Scott Mace of Vienna; two grandchildren, Zachary Scott Mace and wife, Amanda of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Jamie Erin Mace of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jimmy John Mace on October 29, 2012; her daughter-in-law, Deborah Mace; one brother; and four sisters. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2016 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna with Rev. Carolyn Nettles officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vienna Civitan Club in memory of Peggy.
