Lucile Smith, 86, of Parkersburg, W.Va. was ushered into the presence of our Lord and Savior on October 25, 2015.She was born January 25, 1929, in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late John William Buckley Sr. and Edna L. Lemon Buckley.Lucile married John D. Smith on November 2, 1951 and had two children, Susan L. Daugherty and her husband, John L. Daugherty III of Kentuck, W.Va. and John D. Smith and his wife, Deborah of Parkersburg. She also had four grandchildren, Dr. John L. Daugherty IV (Alison) of Columbus, Ohio, Emily Daugherty of Kentuck, W.Va., Stephanie R. Root (Warren) of Virginia and John D. Smith (Amy) of Parkersburg; many great-grandchildren that she greatly loved and adored; and her beloved cat Daisy.She was a private piano/organ teacher for many years while her life was rooted and grounded in Christian service. She played the piano and organ at Lauckport Baptist Church, was a BYF leader and office worker. She was a member of the Fairlawn Baptist Church.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John W. Buckley Jr. and David L. Buckley.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., South Parkersburg with Pastor Don Yeager officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, Chapel of Peace. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Society of Parkersburg, PO Box 392, Parkersburg, WV26101.
