Lois Jean Shuman, 82, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away May 2, 2011, at 3:05 P.M. with her family at her side. She was born May 10, 1928, in Charleston, W.Va., a daughter of the late Henry Albert Sr. and Goldendene Hopkins Schott.Lois grew up in Vienna and was a graduate of Parkersburg High School. First and foremost she dedicated her life to Christ; was a homemaker and a caregiver to many. She loved bowling, painting, fishing, camping, boating, gardening and flowers. She was a member of the 36th Street Church of Christ of Vienna. Surviving are one daughter, Linda Deem (David) of Vienna, W.Va.; three sons, James D. Shuman Jr. (Sarah) of Vienna, W.Va., John H. Shuman (Cyndi) of Cross Lanes, W.Va., and Rob J. Shuman of Vienna, W.Va; two sisters, Angela O'Rear of Spartanburg, SC and Naomi Keller (Sam) of Vienna, W.Va.; three brothers, Carl Schott (JoAnn), Jim Schott, and Bob Schott (Glenna), all of Vienna, W.Va.; ten grandchildren, Melissa Wilson (Darren) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Tamara Thomas (Tim) of N.E. Harbor, Maine, Andrea McMillion (Tom) of Vienna, W.Va., Jeff Shuman and Daniel Shuman, Ben Shuman (Cate), Jessie Ice (Ryan), Justin Shuman, and Levi and Joshua Shuman, all of Vienna, W.Va.; ten great-grandchildren, Abigail, Phillip, Olivia, and Sam Wilson, Benton, Thalia, and Oakley Thomas, Evan and Alexis McMillion, and Maggie Marie Ice; a special friend, Opal Weekly of Vienna, W.Va.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Doyle Shuman Sr., who passed away on April 19, 1998; four brothers, George, Charles, Henry Jr., and Earl Schott; and special caregiver, Eula Carden. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Tom Butterfield officiating. Internment will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Amedysis Hospice Group, The Alzheimer's Foundation, or The Church of Christ of your choice.The family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice group, Sharon, Connie, and Gloria for the love and care that was given the last 27 months.
