Date and Time of Service: Sun., July 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. – Southposted 7/16/2010 at 12:41:36 PMLionel E. “Ed” Eagle Jr., 63, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed into God's loving arms July 15, 2010 at Cleveland Clinic after a courageous battle with heart disease.He was born March 26, 1947, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Lionel E. Sr. and Margaret E. Miller Eagle.Ed was a graduate of PHS and Glenville State College. He worked for the WV State Road Commission, taught school at Rockport and Mineral Wells Elementary, and since 1981, has owned and operated the Broadway Sandwich Shop in south Parkersburg. He enjoyed SCUBA diving, coaching baseball, fishing and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and was loved dearly by his family and friends. He embraced the company of good friends, whether coaching his sons baseball team or fishing with his friends. Throughout the years Ed and Sandy opened their home to thirteen foster children.Ed is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sandy Smith Eagle; two sons, Scott (Jessica) Eagle and Nathan (Patricia) Eagle, both of Parkersburg; three grandchildren, Brandy (Chris) Lynch, Ashley Ross and Caleb Ross; one sister, Phyllis Morris, of Parkersburg.He was preceded in death by his parents.Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Dwight Brohard and Pastor Cindy Eakle officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, at the funeral home.
