Linn "Buddy" Thorn

Linn “Buddy” Thorn, 83 of Parkersburg, went to play in the Eternal Band March 23, 2017 at his home. He was born July 15, 1933 in Parkersburg a son of the late Orlando Linn and Virginia Lee Lickliter Thorn. He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School where he received the National Rudimental Drummers Association Award in 1951. He was a musician, drummer and trumpeter. Linn was a tennis player and president of the Parkersburg Tennis Association of Parkersburg in 1965 and president of the Tennis Association of Rock Springs, Wyoming in 1985. He worked at E.I. DuPont and was a member of the Church of Jesus of Latter Day Saints. “He was not an ordinary man, he was an EXTRAORDINARY man, he was extremely kind to all.” Giving, giving, giving to his family at all times. He was a loving man with a heart as big as Texas. He is survived by his wife, Samantha Thorn; his children, Frannie Lee Medders (Dave) of Boise, Idaho, Jeff Thorn (Kathleen) of Bremen, Ohio and Kendi Dawn Farr (Eric) of Parkersburg; and grandchildren, Amber Dawn, Jamason Linn and Aspen Leon. He will also be greatly missed by his puppies, Mollie, Marlie and Zoe In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, John Thorn; and a sister, Patricia Brownfield; and also previous wife and mother of two of his children, Leatrice Joy Creel. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2515 Capital Drive, Parkersburg, WV 26101. A family and friends dinner will directly follow the memorial.
