Linda June McCumbers Johnson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on Sunday, July 11, 1965, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Linda was a cherished resident of Waverly, WV, where she shared her warmth and kindness with all who knew her.
A graduate of Parkersburg High School, Linda dedicated 35 years of her life working as a compassionate caregiver most recently at Pro Careers. Her commitment to the well-being of others was a testament to her generous and nurturing spirit.
Linda was an active attendee of the Hope Free Will Baptist Church, where she found community and solace. Her love for baseball and basketball was rivaled only by the joy she found watching her grandchildren play. Whether cheering from the sidelines or recounting stories of their games, her pride was immeasurable. A lover of nature, Linda relished her time outdoors—especially when fishing, a pastime she enjoyed deeply. Her affectionate nature extended also to her fur babies, Thor and Zip, who were as much a part of her family as any.
Linda is survived by her devoted daughter, Brandy Horrocks, and her partner Ben Fouse of Mineral Wells, as well as her stepdaughter, Jessica James of Ocala, Florida. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Aiden, Daven Horrocks, and Robert Fouse, and step-grandchildren Aubrey and Brayden James. Linda is also survived by her sisters Jennifer Burdette (Robert), Janice Minear (William Allen), and Mary Jane Milhoan, along with Jimmy McCumbers, the father of her daughter. Her memory is a beacon of strength and love for all of them.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Kenneth Johnson, mother, Violet Genevieve Johnson, and sister, Judith Ann Roush. Their memories were dear to her heart.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Gathering in celebration of Linda’s life, which will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home on Pike Street in South Parkersburg. The arrangements are provided by Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, ensuring a fitting tribute to Linda's life of love and service.
Though she will be deeply missed, Linda's beautiful spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
